I spent two hours trying my best to capture the body builder's character. I'm relatively pleased with it, learned a lot as I painted. I'm using cheap 508x406mm / 20x16 inches, 300g watercolour paper, I think at this stage it is time to move up to Arches or some equivalent quality paper, I'm creating fewer disasters these days. ;)

Well, well ,well, then you are not using a good paper? I think I could kill you, such a wonderful work in cheap paper. The only thing that makes me happy is that I´m going to see even more wonderful watercolors. Arches is a very good paper, quite expensive but deserves the price, it´s ,for me,the best. It can take a lot of "punishment" lasting its properties.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have been using cheap paper, for me it is very important not to be scared of making mistakes, I want to express myself fully, without fear. So I splash on the colour, some paintings work, some don't and I have a lot of fun doing it. Some corners one cannot cut, I use W&N professional paint, I learned early on that cheap paint just doesn't work. A friend said to me the other day, "art is a material sport".
