I tried this technique last night at my life drawing class, after two hours I created a colourful but scary result. Charles has been doing it a while, I guess I can't expect to emulate his style on the first attempt!

Lunch Sketch #8
I guess I have been influenced by the current Kony-2012 campaign, I chose to draw this child soldier from the Congo, it was a little difficult, I'm trying to run before I've learned to walk, why didn't I chose some flowers in a vase instead. Still, I have learned a lot from this little exercise - mainly that I need to be looser in my painting style, use less colour and to scrub less.

A forgotten watercolour
I found this watercolour sketch today, under a pile of old invoices and receipts. I painted it on A4 office paper, hence the wrinkles ...

Simon Schama's Picasso
I did not feel like doing a lunch time sketch today so I watched my favourite art series by Simon Schama. This week it's Picasso's turn.

The completed "Lunch Sketch #7"
I finished this lunchtime sketch of Arnold Schwarzenegger eventually. It took me 5 lunches to complete, that's about 30 minutes each time so I guess it took two and a half hours to finish.
I got bored with this early into the execution but I stuck with for practice reasons. Personally I want to be more expressionistic with my art and not so detailed. Still, I learned a lot, becoming good with watercolour is all about practice, practice and practice.

Lunch Sketch #7
I am struggling with this, my colours are becoming muddy. Still, it's a learning process, I am discovering and experimenting but most importantly, it makes me happy.

Sean Cheetham: Portrait painter
I found this artist, Sean Cheetham while I was surfing on my lunch break, his portrait painting skills are good and the music track to the video is enjoyable too! His blog: http://seancheetham.blogspot.com

Water color by Direk Kingnok
Shop on the street by Direk Kingnok. His style is similar to Alvaro Castagnet I think. I had no time myself to do any water colouring this week, I am busy at work so it might be a while before I have some free time on my hands.

Duffy Sheridan's painting course
I am half way through this course and finding it very useful in my quest to learn how to paint portraits. Duffy Sheridan teaches at a slow informal pace that can sometimes be tedious but I personally like his laid back style, one gets to know him after a while, this is nice because he seems to be a decent relaxed - American type of dude. He is also extremely talented which is an important ingredient to me enjoying his portrait painting course.

Lunch Sketch #7 ( second lunch break )
I am finding it hard to find time to illustrate and paint during my lunch periods right now. I do have time, I just need the office to be calm when I illustrate and it has not been of late. Such is life....
