This blog is moving to www.meldrum.se
Yes, this blog is moving to www.meldrum.se
I've grown tired of Blogger.com and the non-commitment of Google to support it.
I have therefore switched to Wordpress as my blogging tool of choice and installed it on my domain, www.meldrum.se
It will take a number of weeks before I have re-linked some images that didn't make it in the transfer. Once this is complete I will redirect Blogger traffic to www.meldrum.se
If all goes well you won't notice much of a change. I value all of you who vist this site, I hope to regain an enthusiasm for blogging once again. Thank you for your support! :)

Another ferry.
This Stockholm ferry I painted plein air at Nybroplan, where many of the boats stop to drop off and pick up passengers.

Stockholm Ferries
I have a thing for ferries at the moment. Many of the boats that are working everyday of the year are over 100 years old. The Waxholmsbolaget has 3 boats, the Nörrskar, the Storskär and the Västan. This sketch is of the Nörrskar.

Warren Point Northern Ireland
I had spent one week with two Swedish friends in Omeath, Co. Louth just south of the border with Northern Ireland. The painting is of Warren Point which on the other side of the water looking north.

Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland may not be the best place on the planet for compassion for other beliefs or cultures but they do have beautiful coastlines thankfully. This sketch was painted in a new sketchbook that has Saunders 300g, I think it's bound by the art store where I bought it. I really like it. :)

A lunchtime watercolour
I have gotten out of the habit of blogging, I have to admit I am more focused on just painting. Google doesn't seem to support Blogger anymore so I'm thinking of moving to Wordpress in the future. I would like to post more, just spontaneously putting things on the blog. Google doesn't have an app for Blogger anymore on iPhones, that's sad.
The painting of Swedish summer was started during a lunch break and finished in the evening.

Opening day at Edsvik
I had a wonderful day at Edsvik's watercolour exhibition where I have two paintings on view. I met a lot of new watercolourists plus a few heroes which was nice. The exhibition continues until the 28th August.

A better picture.
I ordered a new phone today. Hopefully the camera is fool-proof. Here is an improved photo of last weekend's Urbansketch.

Urban Sunday
Today I spent most of the day with my fellow Stockholm Urbansketchers. We sketched in Hökerängen, an old 1940s suburb in the south of Stockholm.
Yes, the picture is out of focus, sorry about that. |

Drawing practice
I saw this picture of a very cute girl and I just had to sketch it. Drawn on Fabriano A4 paper with a 2b pencil.

Still waters
Like this watercolour, I have been quiet these last few weeks. I've been busy with other things, life hasn't put enough hours into each day. I seem to be going through a bit of a grey period. All my watercolours have a desaturated look all of a sudden. I don't mind, it's just a period in my life.

Edward Seago
I found these two YouTube videos of Edward Seago's work. Very inspiring, I need to travel more! If you would like to learn more about the artist, click here.

Lunchtime watercolour
I am trying to paint everyday, it doesn't matter how good it is - the most important thing is just to do it. I've noticed that it takes days to get to that desired unconscious painting state if one has had a break for a week or more. A painting a day keeps mediocrity away! :)
I forgot the sail in the reflection of this lunchtime watercolour so I had to paint it in afterwards. Annoying of course.
