Dieselverkstaden

I spent Sunday afternoon sketching at Dieselverkstaden with a newly formed Stockholm sketching group called 'Skissa i Stockholm'. A fun day was had by all and I'm quite sure we will be meeting again very soon.

Saturday's life drawing

I regularly sketch at Basis on Folkungagatan here in Stockholm. It's only ten minutes from my home and the 12 o'clock start on a Saturday morning is just perfect for me. The atmosphere is very relaxed and one gets a little tuition for the 100 kronor one pays which is not bad at all. The life drawing session is two hours long.

Here are some sketches from Saturday's life drawing session at Basis here in Stockholm. Sorry, but the scans are pretty awful.

Thursday's drawing session

This was a two hour pose at the Swedish Academy of Realistic Art last Thursday, I can't say I am happy with this in its entirety but some elements of the painting are ok.

Tuesday's life drawing session

Konstnärshuset: Our model did not turn up this week so the organiser whipped her clothes off and saved the day. What a hero!

37th Sketch Crawl

I was the lone Stockholm Sketcher this time around, I had a fun day relaxing in the cool autumn air and managed to produce three sketches. Drottningsgatan, Fjärilshuset and Kulturhuset.

The internal struggle

Last night I went to a two hour - one pose session at the The Swedish Academy of Realistic Art in Bergshamra, Stockholm. I have been sketching now for a few years so I'm finding it relatively easy to draw the human figure. The problem I have today is the painting of the figure, it is such a struggle for me, I painted my first watercolour in February.

Piet Lap - watercolour artist

le fret bretagne 2 by Piet Lap
Piet Lap - I want to take a closer look at his work at a later date. I know nothing about him except that he paints extremely well! Here is a link to his website.

Guan Weixing
Somebody who calls himself "The great artist of China" otherwise know  as Guan Weixing. This site is also worth viewing; which I will some other day. Visit here.

Lunchtime sketching resumes

I have been rather busy since the summer holidays. But today I was relaxed enough to do a little lunchtime sketch. I don't know if anyone would recognise this artist, a hint is that he likes to sing about buildings.

Back to basics

I left my watercolours at home this week, I wanted to focus on improving my drawing skills. I used Gioconda synthetic charcoal and a Koh-i-Noor pencil. The life drawing session was at Konstnärshuset, Stockholm.
